The Colour Run!

I did the Colour Run on the weekend! Well... I did the Color Run... but that looks incorrectly spelled to me.

I recruited my friend Jenny to join me for the run because I knew she was a fellow runner and this way we could get a workout while having an awesome time! I don't really need to train for a 5k race, but leading up to it I did make sure to get at least a couple runs in during the week before. On my regular neighbourhood route, I run at least 4km so I should probably be increasing my run distances but 5k is a nice distance and time to run!

The race was on Sunday morning at 9am. We had to get there early though to pick up our shirts and headbands so we were actually there about 815am. But despite getting there so so early, we didn't actually start running until 10am! Because of this line:

<----- all those people are waiting to run! Crazyness. What a crazy busy run. At least the energy in line was good... lots of music and excitement.

Along the run there were Color stations.. we could see when we were approaching one when there was a coloured archway. Then there were people with ketchup bottle looking things squirting coloured powder on the runners (and walkers... lots and lots of walkers!).. we made a point to ask to be squirted with colour and this is all the colour we got (this is us just as we are finishing the 5k!)

It was actually the most perfect day for a run (you can see the gorgeous weather in this picture!). We finished the run at 28 minutes... timed from Jennys fitbit and they gave us these medals at the end. This is our post run picture! You can see my left arm is completely blue... I got really close to that bottle!
And my favourite: the celebratory high five!! I didn't get home until after 11am so I'm so glad I made one of my banana cocoa smoothies before I ran. I think that helped keep the energy up for the run!

Swim Dates and Beer Tours

Both suggest a good time to me!

Logan and I made a swim play date with Aleksy's cousin, Amanda and her sweet 3 year old Daniella a week ago.

Logan loved him some swim time at Springbank park. We packed lunches and met just before lunchtime. Logan and Daniella had some fun swimming and at the new park. Logan was loving life at the park as usual as you can see!

Since Daniella was a little more enthusiastic about the park than the pool, Logan went in the baby swing for a bit too!
Our dates for the day! Logan is always so smiley and happy around Amanda and Daniella so it's always a fun play date with them! Logan's happy and I get some quality adult conversation... the best kind of days!

We have also had a couple big swimming pool dates in the past few weeks. Logan and I go to a Mom/baby group on Thursdays and a couple of the Mom's have pools! So we got to have some pool enjoyment and the babies were kept happy and occupied for the afternoon. I love afternoons like this because they fly by!

Last weekend we had absolutely no plans made on Saturday, so we went to the market at the fair on Saturday around lunchtime. When we were there, we saw advertising that the new craft brewery was having a grand opening, so we decided to take an impromptu trip to the brewery to try some new beers. Logan accompanied us on our adventures.
We each tried a flight of the 4 different types of beer they serve so we could try them all! There is a seating area upstairs where you can see where the beer is brewed and there's lots of sweet games up there too like giant jenga, kurplunk, and bean bag throw!
Lucky for us the bean bags kept the goober occupied for a bit! And he wasn't the only baby there so we felt like it was pretty family friendly. Although, people may have thought we were strange since we did sit on the floor while goober played. But this is normal at our house anyways!
And this weekend, our weekend plans to go to Burlington were cancelled so we had another impromptu beer date! I found online that the beer fest was at the convent garden market, so we headed over in the afternoon. It was really cool... you pay 2.50 ticket which gets you these small plastic tester sized beers! We each tried 4 (i think?) from nearby craft breweries! And goober was people watching from the baby carrier!
We've actually been talking about trying out the gouda truck forever now. We finally did it! We shared a jalepeno popper grilled cheese sandwich and it was awesome.. just like poppers. We were able to try a couple beers and have this sandwich before the rain hit! Then we hid under the tents and left before we were completely soaked! There was breakdancing too. We love us some good buskering.

Also, no matter how cute your baby is and how wet you are, they will not let you out of the entrances for ticket holders... We tried pretty hard... and failed.

Civic Long Weekend

We were baby freeeee on Saturday of the long weekend! So we planned a day trip just the two of us to Bayfield.

We dropped the goober monster off at Aleksy's parents place in the morning and headed straight to Bayfield from there. It's not too long of a drive. We wandered through the shops on the main street first then walked along the beach and over to the marina!

In our sailboat dreams, we see ourselves docked in Bayfield soit was nice to just walk by the boats and talk about what we want for a sailboat!
After our wandering, we found a little pub that we wanted to stop at for a drink, but it had a 25 minutes wait. So we spent it eating ice cream! Pina Coloda froyo actually. Friggin yum. Aleksy got rum and raisin because he's an old lady.

Just enough filler that we weren't tempted to have food at the pub (sine we brought our own for a bbq!).
This was the pub... we both went with a beer. Nothing quite like a cold beer on a hot day. I was actually eyeing up the bubbly but it was $16 a glass for sparkling wine. I can get a bottle for 12! This beer was a little stronger than my usual liking but it was nice to try a different craft beer.
We got a bit of late afternoon beach time in, then fired up the bbq right on the beach. Usually when we smell the delicious bbq smoke, it's someone elses awesome food but this time it was us!! On a side note... potato salad is not freezable. It was basically water and we had no side potato salad for our bbq!
Beach bbq complete with a little white wine. But we're super discreet with red solo cups!

(lets pretend my stomach isn't a completely different persons skin colour compared than the rest of me!)
How awesome and huge are these burgers? The best beach bbq! Farm boy has awesome ground beef!

And a bit of side veg: zucchini and a cucumber (gotta keep it simple when on the go!).

We left Bayfield shortly after supper and headed home. Logan was having an overnight with his Nana and Dziadek so it was movie night for us!
The next morning, after Aleksys parents made an awesome breakfast for us, we headed to Kustermans berry farm for some blueberry picking! We had tried to go pick a couple weeks ago, but after driving all the way out to Mt. Brydges, it was closed Wednesdays. Good thing Logan loves being strapped in his car seat for 45 minutes straight. But we figured this was a good time to go since we were already in Lambeth and it cuts some of the drive time off.

Logan is a blueberry monster. Seriously, if I put blueberries in front of him all day with no stop, he would just keep eating them. So this is how we kept him happy during the 20 minutes we picked! This is our blueberry eating machine.
More please. And don't be stingy... I can shove 3 in my mouth at once.
So many blueberries for $11! We got a massive bag and still have lots 4 days later! This was perfect timing for berry season because blueberries are practically a food group in our house!
