Summer Weekend Adventures

The best thing about having friends and family who have fun things like trailers and boats, is that Aleksy and I get to reap the benefits of everyones fun things! We have had a couple of weekends in the past few weeks where we have had weekend getaways!

On Canada Day long weekend, Aleksy and I both had the Monday and Tuesday off! So we made plans with Chelsea and Warren and little 3 week old Cadence to go "camping" at Warren's parents trailer in Mitchell's Bay. I say "camping" because really the inside is just like a house, but there is a campfire pit and its by the water which suggests camping.

Along the way to Mitchell's Bay, we pass right by Parks Country store, so we went in! And oh my goodness it is like baked good heaven. I bought a raspberry chocolate scone... seriously who thought of that. Best mix ever and we shared a apple crumble loaf.
And we arrived on June 30: the day before Canada Day. We went for a little walk around the beach area and stopped at a little diner for some supper: fish & chips!

And of course, we also stopped for some ice cream.

The whole gang is in the pic except Aleksy (because someone had to take the pic): even Cadence and doggies.
Just hanging out with my little Cadence outside of the trailer!
And after a day hanging outside of the trailer, walking by the water, and going out to dinner, we stopped to buy all the stuff we need for spidee dogs and smores for the fire! (and had ice ceam while there). When we got back, we got the fire started, had a few smores and spidee dogs, but then we decided that the mosquitos were crazy and we needed shelter from them! So we went inside the trailer for the night. Warren tried to cook the rest of the hotdogs in the microwave and thats when the breaker blew and we had no hydro for the whole night (and no AC - and Canada Day was a very hot day).

Sailing Weekend: July 12/13!
And last weekend was our boating weekend. We headed to Whitby on the Friday evening, got all our groceries for the weekend then Saturday morning we set sail to the Scarborough bluffs! Saturday was a really nice day to be out on the water, but the wind was only good for sailing for about an hour and we motored some of the way to the bluffs.
Boat food somehow tastes 100% better than home food. For example, we had some regular sandwiches for lunch like Aleksy has here (I had the meat rolled around cheese and pickles) and they tasted friggin delic. Also every time I eat a steak on the boat, it is the best. We had the best steaks on Saturday night!

At the end of Saturday night while docked at Scarborough, we met some people who invited us to their sing-along acoustic guitar circle. It was cool for a bit, but then it was time for sleep.
This is from Saturday, because on Saturday I was surely on top of the world. On Sunday, I woke up feeling a little groggy from the previous day's drinks but was ok after some coffee. But then we set sail into the 6 feet waves and the boat shook me right up. After going as pale as the white sail, I learned that sailing in choppy weather = not easy on the stomach. I learned that 3 times.

Aleksy and I have dreams of owning a sailboat in the future so I need to work on my sailors stomach of steel.

Strawberrytime!

The best best best tasting strawberries are the freshly picked kind that are picked straight from the source! Yesterday, Aleksy and I went strawberry picking at Heemans and filled up our basket of delicious strawberries for $13!

After our strawberry picking, we headed home promptly to make strawberry daiquiries. Those little bacardi frozen strawberry daiquiri cans really cannot compare to homemade daiquiries with fresh strawberries! So delic!

Last year with our strawberries, I made a strawberry ice cream topping... ill have to see if theres a delic new idea to try with the leftover strawberries we have!

Bridal Shower Numero 2!

I had such an amazing time at my shower (number 2!) on June 29th. My bridesmaids and Mom put together everything and it was so beautiful, thoughtful and carefully planned out. I think by this shower, I felt a little more comfortable with being the bride-to-be at my shower... and feel that I was able to talk with everyone there :)

This was the beautiful set up in my sisters backyard! Pink and grey lanterns hanging from the trees, pink gerber daisies on the tables with pink and white table clothes and even the plates and cutlery were pink! My sister had a "vision" for the set up, and it was perfect and even coordinated with my wedding colours: grey and pink.
And I arrived just at the right time because as I was arriving everyone was gathering for a picture before the guests arrived. All of these bridesmaids did so much to make my shower perfect: preparing and bringing food, decorations, and games. This is all my bridesmaids and flower girls (Natalia hiding behind us by the tree) but my one missing lady is Alyssa since Ottawa is too far away :(
This candy bar made me so excited! Andzelika had this brilliant idea (also matching with the wedding because there will def be one at the wedding!) and she gathered the candy and glass jars. Nikki got the pink boxes to put the candy in! The flower girls were all up in this... who knew they loved mints so much!
Present time! I was a little more comfortable with eyes on me knowing what to expect this time... Aleksy and I continue to be so astonished and grateful for how much everyone has done for us throughout this whole wedding experience. My showers were another reminder of this. We received lots of household items, many structube gift cards to purchase a new dining room table (after the wedding!) and all the money we received is going toward out limo rental! So so appreciative!
And thank goodness for my bridesmaids who helped with handing me the presents, throwing out the garbage, and writing in the card what each gift was. It would have been a long process without them.

Today's to do: buying thank you cards for both my showers!

This is my amazing shower cake! So beautifully done with pink gerber daisies to match the decor. My bridesmaid Steph's friend Emily is an amazing pastry chef and made this for the shower! She also made Steph and Al's wedding cake which I still remember that chocolate and strawberry goodness! So profesh.

I was so happy that I was able to get pictures together with all of my guests! This is my little sister Brooklyn and her Mom Jenn. I was so glad they were able to make it: Brooklyn's first bridal shower!
Sam, Scarlett and me! This dress that Scarlett is wearing is the Christmas gift that we gave to her! Sam saved it specially for the shower! It was also perfect because my 4 flower girls also seemed to match with the pink theme, and Scarlett was also well coordinated. Scarlett is a fashionista whose wardrobe far exceeds my style so of course Scarlett had some additional accessories with her fedora to match!
Sam was the baby whisperer at the shower, and after they set up the blanket on the ground, the other girls were like magnets! Maybe it was Scarlett too... wanting to check out the other littler girl!
And my Aunt Cindy, Laura and Grandma! Everyone was complimenting the sun hats that my Aunt and Grandma had on.. so summery! And I am quite sure that this is the only picture that I have with the ladies of the family (should have stole my sis for this)!
This shower, Aleksy was timely with his arrival to say thank you to the hostess, my Mom and bridesmaids who put this all together. He even gave each of the flower girls a rose!

So grateful for all the shower love that we received. The next event coming up is my Grand Bend Bachelorette weekend then wedding!
