Pancakes/Hiking/Mason & Lincolns birthday party

Just a post with all the random activities of the past weeks:

We have been to the Kinsmen sugar bush a bunch of times, but I have driven by the sign for the McLauchlin family Pancake House so many times that I decided we would change it up and give this one a whirl.

Logan is just about pancaked out: despite these being delicious and with fresh syrup, he ate a couple bites and wasn't feeling them. Aleksy and I on the other hand were in maple syrup heaven with pancakes, sausage and even mapley baked beans.

We also hit up the store and got some syrup, candies and maple butter tarts.
The nice thing about this sugar bush is there is a play area for the kids! Logan was very excited. He could see it from our table and was eyeing it up the whole time.

We played on the playground for a bit, then went on a horse drawn wagon ride before heading back for nap time.
The day after St Patty's we had some family time hiking in Komoka. It was such a nice day but we had headed up in the morning so it hadn't quite hit the 10 degrees it was supposed to that day.

Logan wanted to wear his tiny backpack since Aleksy was carrying his. Logan was responsible for taking the snacks.

A cheese & cracker and granola bar break. Days like this make me so excited for all the outdoor adventures summer will hold!

Lots of picnicking to come.
Still so much snow on the trail. I swear this is the longest winter ever.
Despite the hiking for an hour and a half, Logan refused to sleep once we got home. We tried to put him down for almost an hour, then gave up and headed to Canadian tire instead. Then at 5pm on the way home from Canadian tire, this is what happened. And he thought he didn't need naps anymore...
March 24th was Mason and Lincolns birthday party at the Boys and Girls club. Logan had lots of his buddies to keep him company and even shared his bowl of popcorn.
Instead of eating pizza, games were played around the party room. Logan was loving running around with the other small people.

Logan had a bit more attention when the cake came out. So basically, cake for supper...
These guys favourite treats are Popsicles and they were served for their special day of turning 2. We also realized we haven't given Logan a Popsicle before so Logan also had his first Popsicle (and then Aleksys too).
Logan using all his force with the Chase pinata. The only time he's allowed to deliberately hit things with a stick! The excitement.

We was also excited for the rockets and "eggies" (chocolate eggs) that fell out but wasn't greedy at all, I had to encourage him to grab more!
Running around the gym is one of Logans favourite things (he LOVES his program through the Spectrum that is now over) and he insisted he wanted to rock climb but once he got to free floating in the air, he didn't want anything to do with that anymore!

St. Pattys

I saw well in advance that St Patty's this year falls on a Saturday and so I decided to take advantage of the Saturday with a St. Patty's play date/party for our friends and kids!

My St. Patty's day themed food table: green punch, green jello, green fruit salad, some pinwheels (with green tortillas), green rice krispie squares and green cupcakes. Oh and lucky charms. I don't think I've had those since I was 10.
Cheers to green punch... even if there's no fun spiked goodness inside!
This is the craft that I tried to coordinate. I quickly realized theres no way to have everyone sitting and doing the craft together unless we all just sat in the living room. So we brought out the fruit loops and the shamrocks that I cut out and made our rainbow and shamrock necklaces... or tried to anyway. The string was prone to fraying and we couldn't really get the fruit loops on so the craft was a bit of a challenge for the kids!
Helping each other out with my difficult craft.
Our classic timed group shot!
Logan thought the green cupcakes were delicious. I put green food colouring in the cake mix to festive those up.
Fruit loops seemed to the kids crowd pleaser. A lot of these kid pleasers are not pleasing for my own child: fruit loops, cookies, kraft dinner, hotdogs... even juice. My child doesn't even drink juice!

Men's large "dress" to fit over that 23 week belly!
Friends have gone home, but Logan still feeling the party! So much that he refused to nap that day and we ended up settling for a 45 minutes drive to somewhere out in Oxford County so he got some sort of a nap in before heading to my sisters for Rachel's birthday party.

The Logan Vacation

The week of March 5th, Logan's daycare provider was in Florida, so I was off work for the week and Logan and I spent the days together hitting some toddler hot spots.

Monday:
Monday morning we dropped my car off in the morning for an oil change in the morning and drove Aleksy to work. We had some time to kill because I thought the children's museum opened at 10am. We hit some pancakes and the play place at McDonalds then headed to the museum to see it was closed Monday.
But I was right on target with recovering from the disappointment and we went right to Fleetway for the indoor playground. So much less busy on a Monday morning than the weekend!
Tuesday:

We made it to the Children's museum. Regardless of how cool I think it is in the area where the olden times school, kitchen etc are, Logan much preferred the big open play areas where he could run free.
Although, he loved the grocery store and spent a good amount of time here checking in the money.

He was also a big fan of the treehouse and went down the slide that gives the most static of life about a thousand times.

We made it to the star show at 11am too! Logan first insisted that he'd rather see the "choo choo" (the trains that were just outside the star room), but he managed to sit down and take in the star show.
We made it through most sections of the museum before noon then headed to have a snack in the mani room with the tables and chairs.

All the other wonderful Moms had their fully packed lunches complete with sandwiches, fruit and veggies but I was not so prepared so my lucky Logan got his granola bar and raisin box.
Wednesday:

We headed to the Byron playgroup through the Early Years Centres on Wednesday, which is where Logan's daycare goes most Wednesdays. Logan played for a solid hour and a half with the toys they had laid out and loved circle time with stories and songs.

He went through these tunnels so many times!
And later after nap, we made some oatmeal banana muffins, which he LOVED! He ate so many of these muffins. Food is such a hit or miss with Logan so I am always excited when its a win!
Thursday:

Was the day I had to drag Mr. Loan through the errand of my midwife appointment! I never noticed how prepared they are for older toddler siblings. Lots of toys to occupy him for the wait, but once in the room it was a bit trickier to entertain.

Considering we were there for about an hour and a half going through the findings of the ultrasound, specialist appointment and my work accommodations, he did really well!
We had after midwife plans for lunch with Aleksy. We met at the Malibu where Logan and I had more pancakes (Logan's favourite).

Since Logan feel asleep on the way to the Malibu, this was a 15 minute nap day. Because car naps always ruin a good afternoon nap (although this week he refused to nap for anything longer than an hour).

Friday: We visited my Grandparents and I made a mental note to take a picture and then completely forgot :( This is mainly because I make note not to bring my phone out so as to not be rude when having visits. We had a nice visit too complete with new kitty pets and chocolate chip cookies.
