Kincardine Weekend

We've just arrived back from Florida and Ive got some catching up on blogging to do from even before our trip before I start blogging about our trip!

The weekend of the crazy April ice storm was the weekend before we left for Florida and we had plans with our friends to visit their place in Kincardine. This was the first weekend we were able to manage to make plans to get out there since May of last year so ice storm or not, this was happening! We love our kincardine weekends where we get to spend the best quality time with Sam, Zac and their awesome kiddos.

We left London and it was just a light rain and as we got further and further out of the city, the rain got heavier and it got icier. The wind was crazy and this is the road blocked with trees that had fallen down - we stumbled across several trees that we (Aleksy) had to swerve around.
But this guy didn't notice much because he was happy as happy can be with his "little puter" and Peppa. He'd watch tv for hours if we let him.
We got to Kincardine safely at lunch time and had lunch on arrival. That time is normally nap time for Logan but with just arriving at his friends place and new toys to play with not to mention forts, naps were not in the plan for Logan.

Logan and his friends "Beal" (Bill) and "Carlett" (Scarlett) in their awesome couch on its side fort. Logan had such a good time with his friends and mainly following Scarlett around, taking her lead for play!
These cars were very loved that weekend between the 3 kids. There was a little disagreement with sharing (with a 1 1/2 and 2 yr old believe it or not) but they managed to all get turns.

On the Saturday, it was far too cold and icy to be outside so we stayed in, let the kids play upstairs and downstairs and ate some delicious steak salad for supper. Can't wait for a summer Kincardine outside weekend... we'll see what this baby girl in my belly has planned for arrival time.
The morning reading circle. Because they're extra cute when in jammies (or just a diaper!). We had an awesome breakfast that morning with yogurt parfaits, croissants and jam and mini quiche.

We left later in the morning on the Sunday and it was a slow ride and even icier than the day before. We watched a jeep go into the ditch (after it tailgated us) and saw another car in the ditch in the same place. And that was after we almost slid off the road!

It's always a good weekend when its a Kincardine weekend!

Easter 2018

On Good Friday, Logan had plans with his Nana and Dziadek for the morning to colour and decorate easter eggs, so we had a little date morning. We went downtown and found that a lot of places were closed for Good Friday but the Early Bird was open! So we both got some heart attack specials: this pancake stacked with meat (pealmeal bacon, bacon, sausage) between each of the 4 pancakes and an egg on top and Aleksys chicken and waffles. There's no other spot in London to get breakfast quite like this one!
For the festive occasion, Logan and I had some serious baking to do. We started with cadbury mini egg cookies including one giant cookie.
And we did rice krispie birds nests. Logan's favourite part was putting the jelly beans (eggs) in he nests.

Saturday morning, we went to Ilderton for the Easter egg hunt. This was our second year going and last year we were so happy with it, we went back. Well this year, it wasn't quite the same. When they rang the bell for the kids to go pick up the eggs, they were all gone in about 1 minute and Logan had only managed to get about 3 eggs in his basket (the number was 10 for each). We went over to the "big kid" section to try to get more and he picked a couple more out when another child emptied their basket after picking too many. I felt so bad for him but he didn't seem to mind! He was just happy he got some eggs (we saw other kids crying that didn't get any!).
Creepy Easter bunny was back!
We got a small and temporary dose of milder weather for the Easter weekend and took advantage with a bit of bbq lunch and outside, backyard play! This yellow spring jacket has now been placed back into the closet and hasn't been touched in a week because it is now 0 degrees with snow on the ground! Come on summer weather!
Saturday, we had Easter supper at my Mom and Pauls place. Logan got this tin full of Easter goodies and we now have enough chocolate to last us until the end of the year. He was very excited for all the chocolate and dump truck.
Logan loves following Rachel around and doing what she does. This was what he did the whole night!

After turkey supper, we ended up getting home a bit later at around 9pm with the Easter bunny making his appearance that night.
Since Logan went to bed a bit later at 9pm, he also slept in, which we loved! After a 7:30am wake up, we were excited to find that the Easter bunny had brought a basket of goodies: chocolate, a sticker book, some Peppa cards, and outdoor fun with a new helmet and cleats for soccer!

So excited to put on his new helmet! He has a plastic tricycle and a metal one from Rachel and we were thinking of getting him a balance bike this summer too.
And the Easter bunny hid lots of eggs around the house, there were some that Logan went straight to and some that we needed to give him hints to find. His Easter egg hunt took place complete with cleats and bunny ears.
All the eggs!
And so much chocolate after opening all the plastic eggs! We are going to have chocolate eggs for months!
After some easter morning blueberry pancakes, we wanted to dye some eggs and decorate them with Logan. Logan helped a bit with putting the eggs in the dye cups, but when they were ready he asked for us to put the Peppa stickers on. Aleksy had a great time with his Peppa eggs.
He eventually decided to help with the Peppa stickers too.

Then after a successful nap that we had to wake him up from, we headed over to Aleksys parents for Easter Sunday ham supper! Along with some polish goods, like my favourite: bigos. And servings of kielbassa and rye with the hard boiled eggs after supper as usual. And egg cracking wars! Logan was really into the egg cracking wars this year.
