A Weekend of Birthdays

It is taking forever for this weather to feel the slightest bit summery. Its like 1 nice sunny day where shorts can be worn a week. But this past weekend, we had a bit more of that summery weather and took advantage!

Saturday started off rainy and Logan's first soccer day of the season got cancelled because of the thunderstorms.

Around 10:30 (Leahs am nap time), we headed to Waterloo for Maiko's 7th birthday and since we were in for the long drive, we took advantage by popping into St Jacobs market for a bit. It was nice when we were walking around the outside market and we got some baked deliciousness... some apple fritters and a baked pizza like bread with olives and peppers.
And we found a creole cooking place inside the market and this food was so good, the picture does it no justice. Ive never had hush puppies and they were so good. The others are blackened rice and fried plantains. And Logans mac and cheese because... Logan. Im actually impressed he ate it all!
We spent so much time at the market eating!! While Logan had his popsicle, we had some of the baked goodness and then the creole food and when it started raining, we headed out. It was also just in time for the party!

We stopped to visit the horses on the way out.
And because our little picnic got rained out, Logan had the rest of his mac and cheese in the car!
And we made it to the play place for Maikos birthday! Logan was too busy to eat waffles because he wanted to play but Leah didn't pass them up! Logan made up for it by eating 2 cupcakes.

Just a regular balanced diet for our Logan of mac and cheese and cupcakes. And some goldfishes on the way home to really add some proper nutrition.
Maiko is the biggest fan of Mario and has had a Mario birthday for the past few years but this year he really stepped outside of his Mario and did sonic. He knows what he likes!

And Tabis cake was amazing as always!

The birthday finished around 4-4:30pm and we started the drive home right when it started raining and this was the night there was a severe weather warning and we got caught in what felt like a hurricane. At one point we had to stop because we couldnt see at all through the window. It was scary... the kids slept through it all!
Sunday we had some nice weather! Before Teegan's birthday, we cracked some cold ones (this chardonnay based beer... yum!) and brought out the new fire hydrant sprinkler. Logan was in heaven!
Teegan's birthday party was at 2pm so we headed to the farm. Logan doesn't let me call it Uncle Al's house and it must be called Uncle Al's farm.

Leah being her happy self. She loves to have her hands held and walk everywhere... and walk with her walker.
The babies! Teegan is now 1 and Leah will be in exactly 1 month. Leah is definitely taller tough!!
So many kiddos lined up having snacks. Teegan's all ready in her chair for presents.
Teegan's smash cake! At first she just wanted to smash and smoosh but eventually got into eating too!
And Logan was most excited for this... the forest walk and chasing Moose. Funny I can't actually spot Logan in this picture.. he must be the first gone.

Their farm actually has an amazing forest that we can go for a hike through and it's Logan's favourite thing ever. He loves to find golf balls (theyre backed right onto a gold course).

May 2-4ing

A bunch of events packed into a long weekend, starting with:

Girls night! On Friday night we went to forrats chocolate lounge for some bubbly, chocolate fondue and a cheese platter! We had such a great night that when they turned the lights on at 12:20am to close, we thought it was 11pm! Good conversation and food and then bam 4 and a half hours passes.
Saturday morning, we made plans to meet at Fanshawe Conservation area for a picnic, bike riding and some park play.

Logan has been awesomely riding a 2 wheeler like a crazy 3 year old for a few weeks now, but he took a little break after a big wipe out here on the gravel! He's now back at it and was riding amazing around the park last night!
Logan helping Leah back to the car after our picnic and some park play. After a rainy start to the day, we ended up meting for noon and it was really nice weather! Leah was covered but I didn't sunscreen her face and she got her first baby sunburn on her cheeks :( Its the 16 degree cloudy days that throw the sunscreen need off!
Just a few big kids proud with their 2 wheelers.
When we got home, we had some good backyard play. Logan had picked out water balloons for his prize the weekend before (Logan has a behavioural/chore chart and when he gets all his stickers for the week he picks a prize!) and didn't get to use them because it was chilly. He picked them to "throw water balloons at Daddy".

And so this is his dump truck full of water balloons and he loved throwing these at us!
Leah and my favourite spot in the backyard... ok maybe mines the fire pit but the swing's pretty great. But Leah loves her swing... an the swings at the park which we stop by lots when out for our (pretty much daily) walks.
On Sunday, we made plans for a bbq and fire with our friends. We had about an hour of outside play in the windiest non rainy time and then we had to bring the troops inside. Our place never feels as small as it does when we pack in 10 kids and their parents inside!

We missed out on spidey dogs and smores but still managed to get the bbqed burgs and dogs done before the rain came!
The kids didn't mind that we were rained out and had tons of fun playing! And story time was a hit too.
The rain cleared that night and so we got our fire after all! We had to squeeze a fire in for the long weekend. With our tiny box of wine that we really did a number on that day. Red wine and fire goes hand in hand!
And holiday Monday, we planted our planters in the front and back with the plants that we had picked out that weekend. Logan is always helper extraordinaire with outdoor chores.
This was taken a couple days later in the morning, but I just wanted to note how well these 2 play together now! Since Leah started crawling a month or so ago, Logan loves crawling around with her and she loves following him. While they crawl around getting into stuff, Logan says "we're the goofers!". The best name for these monkeys!

Mothers Day!

We had a pretty busy weekend of Mother's Day activities!

Saturday we had Aleksys parents and brother over for bbq and a fire! This was the second fire of the season and the first with smores! Logan was equipped with both his glow bracelets, necklace and goggles but must have already left his goggles behind at this point after he flung them on his chin.

Logan's roasting up 2 marshmallows here.
Little lady Leah loving her dziadek time.
Logan's first smore of the season. And to no surprise, he had about 2 bites and gave it to me!

He likes the spidey dogs more than the smores I think... he may not even be my kid.
Mother's day morning I opened my presents from my cuties! The homemade presents make my heart melt! Logan's daycare provider made the little oven mitts with his handprint and he made the bag just for me! And this is my favourite picture of the kids framed!
The plan for Mother's day morning was to go out for breakfast but I was a little afraid of crazy crowds and who knows what the mood of the small people would be, so we opted out of a restaurant and did a Mcdonalds breakfast instead. It may not be fancy but it was my first mcD's breakfast in a looooong time and it was friggin delicious. Logan and Leah also loved their pancakes.

After we headed to Ipperwash to a new trail that Aleksy found. Leah had a nap on the way and Logan had his little puter so he was good for as long as needed. It comes in handy sometimes that Leah wakes up the second we stop driving and there's a change in motion!
There is a 5k loop, but we have some small legs so we ended up walking part way and then turning around and heading back. Toward the end Logan was asking to be carried so I think we chose the right time!

It was a bit of a cloudy day but we did miss the rain!
Logan has been watching diversified tv lately (as opposed to 10 hours of paw patrol in a weekend) and he started liking Dora recently. From Dora, when we saw these bridges (there were a few!) we had to yell "bridge!".

They were pretty narrow!

And always hiking booze... that champagne was soooo good (we decided that all drinks taste better outside).
A little stop on a tree for snacks for the big one and a bottle for the little one (and a bush pee because sometimes you just gotta go).

This hiking trail is a really nice one... we will probably hit it up again! We have 3 nights booked in a cottage with our friends in Ipperwash in July so probably then!
Family hiking selfie!

We headed home after our hike and then went to my Mom's for supper... pretty nice since we didn't think in advance what we were going to have!
