Father's Day Weekend

In June, my Mom's birthday usually also falls on Father's Day weekend. Thanks to baby girl in the tummy for not also coming at that time and adding to an already crazy weekend! We celebrated on Saturday with a backyard BBQ and fire. One more until the big 6-0!

And gluten free cake! We have found more and more delicious gluten free treats and now most that we buy can pass as the regular stuff.

We stayed up late having a fire and some drinks (you know.... dr. pepper) and made some tentative plans to get Logan and baby girl on the boat this summer. We will see how that turns out!

And the next day was Father's Day! After Aleksy spent the morning golfing, we headed to Port Franks for a beach day. It was the hottest day ever so the beach was the place to be so we could cool off periodically in the water.

Logans favourite game was this: putting his trucks in the water and watching them wash up to shore and rescuing them. Because the rescue game is basically the only game. This kid is serious about his "rescue hooks!".
Refreshing beach drinks. Not my typical beach drink (because of the no alcohol aspect) but these Costco specials are pretty good and not too sweet! Flavoured sparking lemonade.

We set up our spot right in front of this "treehouse".
We brought our little charcoal BBQ for some supper to the beach too. Supper on the beach was not quite as enjoyable with a certain someone who really didn't want to eat what we had but eventually settled for the fruit.

So we gobbled up our burgers in 2 bites and packed up because it was already nearly 7 and Logan needed to get to bed because he only had about a 30 min car nap that day on the way to the beach.
Pregnant beaching is not the most comfortable but it was such a great day spending hours at the beach on a 30 degree + day (until the group beside us got obnoxiously drunk and Logan couldn't' help but stare at them... then it was definitely time to go before he learned his first swear words!)

Logan & Mommy Day

On Friday, I took Logan out of daycare and planned to have some good one on one time with him. It's a weird feeling to drop Logan off during the days when I'm off and have the whole day to myself (I do need the time to chill and keep baby where she is) so this was such a nice guilt-free quality time day!

We started the day off right with Logan's ever so loved blueberry pancakes. A treat from the usual oatmeal or monkey wraps (PB & banana) he usually has for breakfast!
And after breakfast and getting ready, we headed to Storybook Gardens for the day! I tried to get there close to opening, so we got there about 10:15am - just as tons of buses were coming in and a line out the castle had formed! Busy day at Storybook. But pretty reasonable admission at just $15 for the 2 of us.

Logan had an awesome time playing in the playground in the back, but wanted to go down the massive slides (of course), so I had to distract him away from there because I couldnt go up to the top with him and be at the bottom of the slide when he got down. That was going to be lost child for sure. Riding frogs was much safer!
The bouncing pillow was closed this day, which worked to my advantage because I am in no condition for bouncing...

Logan loved playing in the village with the little houses and would switch around based on where the least amount of kids were. He liked to have access to the toys in the houses like this little animal hospital one.
He wanted to play with the hose in the fire station house so badly but it was taken by the other kids!

I distracted him by suggesting we go to the splash pad. He was on board.
Logan is exactly 36 inches and just tall enough to go down the water slide! He loved it and went down twice. He needed some support in line though with all the big kids who wanted to cut in front of poor little 2 year old Logan.
Logan's favourites: anything that sprays water at other people. This was his favourite last year too!
And after finishing up at the splash pad, Logan was hungry and tired... tired so much that he even agreed to going into the stroller to find a lunch spot. We settled for the tables and chairs right by the entrance since all the picnic tables were taken by the schools, especially the shaded ones!
And then got a classic Storybook Humpty dumpty picture on our way out!

June Things

June is busy... particularly with birthdays. Everyone is born in June! With that being said... baby girl has not yet been born and maybe she'll dare to be different and throw a July birthday into the mix.

We went to Maikos birthday the weekend after our Toronto weekend. It was at a play centre in Waterloo and at the biggest, fanciest church ever. Somewhere along the lines, the cutest little baby Maiko turned 6. And this was his awesome Mario cake made by the best cake maker out there. And cookies in shapes of nintendo controllers.
At first, I was feeling a little bad for Logan because most of the kiddos were 4 years older than him, but then I saw him pushing those big kids who were trying to be nice and go around him and we had to tell Logan to be nice to the big kids. I never know what to expect from this kid.
His very own mario backpack goodie bag to take home!

The 4th... yes 4th baby Osborne has made her entrance to the world. Baby Teegan was born May 29th. She was 3 weeks early and was born under some urgent circumstances with her growth, but she is doing awesome and is home with her 3 siblings now and is the cutest, tiniest babe!
Cadie turned 4 on June 8th! We missed her birthday party when we were in Toronto so we brought the party to her complete with burgers, mac and cheese, salad and cupcakes for dessert!

At their new awesome place in Dorchester or as we like to call it... the other side of the world.
I have had a lot of lunch openings with being off work. We have tried a couple new awesome places downtown that were amazing! The first was wich is wich where we got some awesome sandwiches and sweet potato fries, and last week, we stopped in at Fresnos Italian Kitchen and had the best italian sandwiches and caprese sandwiches ever! We are going back here for sure.

And so much outside time! Long summer days are the best, Logan may go to bed a bit later these days, but he's soaking up all the nice weather with our awesome new playground in the backyard, park walks and bike rides. I didn't even know what to do when it rained today! Staying inside is weird....

Date Day!

I've fallen behind a bit on my blog entries (somehow... even though i'm off work! It must be all the busyness) but we managed to get a mini date day in at the beginning of the month. Aleksys parents watched Logan and we headed down to Port Stanley for the evening. We started with trying to find a good place for supper - we wanted to do the old wharf at Port Stanley but it closed down and there didnt seem to be anything similar to replace it. We tried GTs on the beach, but live music is sometimes too loud for a date day supper, so we ended up at the Buccaneer restaurant, which was basically a patio in the parking lot, but it was so busy! We got the last table and there was a line up right beside us for the entire meal.

We had no idea why all these people wanted there so badly. Our service was sub-par and the food was edible with nothing more to say than that. And weirdly enough, the population of people wanting to go to this dive restaurant seemed to be over 65! I don't know what was going on with the people of Port Stanley that night, but they were the best people watching bunch and we laughed he whole time we people watched!

So after our disappointing fish and chips eaten in a parking lot, we made up for our dining experience by grabbing second supper and having Mackies on the beach.

Mackies orangeaid for the win!
35 weeks pregnant! (Then.. now im closing in on 37!)
Such a satisfying make up meal of french fries, mackies sauce and ketchup and a hot dog!

And because theres always room for dessert, Shaws on the way home!

One Last Getaway

This past weekend, we snuck in one last little getaway before baby comes. It kind of lined itself up because we tagged along to Aleksy's business trip, where he had to stay a couple nights away for his program he's doing through work.

We left bright and early Sunday morning and they had a room available for us early at 11am! After parking valet for a totally reasonable and not overpriced at all $50 a night, we got this cute small person to wheel our luggage to our room.

We unloaded and prepared to head over to Centre Island to Centreville - the amusement park for the day!
We were right beside the ferry to the island that this was basically right at the exit of our hotel... so convenient! It was only about $20 for the 3 of us to get on the boat and Logan was very excited for the boat ride!

There's no admission to the park (other than the ferry cost I guess). so you can wander around for free, but to go on the rides, there was the option of either buying a day pass or tickets. We opted for the tickets which put us back about $60.

What we weren't expecting is for the rides to be so independent... way different than disney! These little cars were not adult friendly, so we just gave Logan's tickets and let him ride by himself! This felt like our toddler officially became a child.
After riding the cars by himself, he asked to go on the boat ride. So we remembered seeing these boats and got him on there thinking he'd be really excited then he quickly realized there was another boat right bsdie him going way faster and flipping back and forth and he tried to get our attention by saying "I want that boat!", "I don't want this one, yuck!". This was apparently quite the disappointment because Logan wanted "the crazy boat".
Apparently the rollercoaster was also on the wish list for Logan. As long as its really fast, Logan is game. I asked after all these rides if they were scary and he assured me they are not.
Sometimes, I'm awesomely prepared and remember to make PB & J sandwiches first thing in the morning before leaving for Toronto so we can have a picnic! With our picky eater, it's basically the only way I can be sure something that Logan likes is available.

Mid day lunch break here, fighting seagulls and ducks at our feet and all.
And the moment Logan was waiting for. Crazy boat! this things goes back and forth and up and down, all the while spinning you around, what 2 year old wouldn't love it?

And me watching with my 34.5 week baby bump from the sidelines and somehow having a ton of fun just watching my kid go on rides. I don't know when I became so old and lame!
When we bought our tickets, the lady informed me that the only pregnancy friendly rides were the antique cars and the carousel. As I remember from disney, the carousel is way to dizzy for my unbalanced body, so antique cars it was!

Even this "pregnancy friendly" ride I thought may bump my baby out!

Logan proceeded to go on the carousel and ferris wheel before heading home - lots of rides in a day! Then fell asleep on the way back to the ferry while we indulged in Beavertails!

Logan had the best hotel view - and shared his view with his Peppa pig friends who all faced out toward the water. He even ate his chicken fried rice looking out the window!
Then Monday morning was a Mommy and Logan day while Aleksy was in his classes. We started our Monday like this and it was glorious. A little cartoons before hitting the hotel pool where Logan swam for a whole 2 minutes then asked to go back to the room.
After our swim, we headed out int the big city to check things out. We watched the boats coming and going for a bit from this spot, which entertained Logan temporarily, but otherwise it wasn't so kid-friendly - just fast cars, fast moving business people and no parks! Oh and of course me being crazy paranoid about Logan being beside water because my running abilities are currently non existent.

After our exploration we had nap time. Both of us.
When Aleksy got back, it was supper time! I scoped out a spot in advance - the old spaghetti factory, which seemed great because 1) it was the closest to our hotel at about a 15 min walk and 2) Logan loves his noodles. It was way better than I thought! The decor was awesome with basically an indoor carousel and Logan's plain noodles with butter and parm and vanilla ice cream needs were perfectly met. Plus my chicken parmi with spaghetti was awesome and it came with bread, salad and dessert!
This telephone booth was right beside us and Logan wanted to go in again and again. He also informed us that it wasn't a telephone. Cell phones are the only phones for 2 year olds.

It was a Cars movie night this night. Complete with candies and snacks.
And the next morning, Logan was a bit more enthusiastic about the swim. Probably because their was no one else there and I let him get in and out as much as he wanted to get new toys from the bins. We went right at the perfect time because just as he was asking to leave, about 30 old ladies came in for aquafit!

I think Logan prefers the shallow water that he doesn't have to be held the whole time in!
After our swim, we headed out to the little green "park" (which Logan informed me wasn't a park, because playground makes a park) for a picnic lunch. More PB & J. I thought it'd be awesome to have lunch on top of this oversized picnic table, but Logan didn't agree - "I want down Mommy".
Logan's picnic spot of choice - the pink muskoka chair by the water, right beside 2 business people having lunch. I bet they were thrilled with my wiggly PB smelling man!
The Tuesday was our check out from the hotel day and we asked if we could get a late check out, but they could only stretch it to 2pm. So Logan and I had 3 hours of no home before Aleksy was done school. We went ack to the isalnd becasue it's the only palce downtown Torotno that I could see that was kid-friendly! Plus it was only $11 for Logan and I to take the ferry and the farm part of Centreville was free.

Logan was so tired from skipping nap. He played in the stones, half looked at the animals and then asked to go on all the rides, so I had to escape and go to the green space instead!

He was much happier playing on the swings and running back and forth until it was time to go back to the boat.
Heading back to the boat, that was it for this kid! He fell asleep just before we got on the boat to get back and meet Aleksy.

Then we grabbed the car and headed back to London town where Logan was all too excited to sleep in his own bed after sharing a double bed with Aleksy for the 2 nights!
