May 2-4

Our May 2-4 started with a normal Friday of activities.. Aleksy and Logan hit up the LCBO and WalMart while I did my 2 favourite gym classes: power barbell and step/abs. Friday is also our night to have supper separate from Logan after he goes to bed and although it usually is sweet potato nachos (pretty much a Friday tradition!) we didn't have cheese or salsa so we had spaghetti squash with ground turkey, pesto, zucchini and onion. yum.

After Logan was in bed ad we had our supper, we decided on a competitive game of Racko. Competitive because we decided that the loser would drive the next day at the BBQ we were going to with friends.

I clobbered Aleksy with like 12 Rackos in a row and I think he may have only got one. But I felt bad because he drove at Steph's bday so I drove the next day anyway!
Saturday morning, I had a hike planned with Brooklyn at Fanshawe Conservation Area. I picked her up at 10am and we hit the lake trail at Fanshawe. It turned out to be a perfect morning that was sunny and just the right temperature to wear a sweater and be warm.

And one of the first things we saw on this hike was this cool blue egg right on the pathway. It had a little hole knocked in it so it looked like something else pecked and ate it :(
We proceeded to go through even the pathways that were use at your own risk.. because we live on the edge like that. Those big hills didn't stop us (perhaps if we biked we'd stay on the trail).

Before the hike, we stopped at Lynn's bakery right by Brooklyn's place to grab some lunch. It was awesomely inexpensive and so many good treats. We both got sandwiches for lunch along with some veggies and since Aleksy asked me to bring treats home, I got us a lemon tart, raisin scone and cannolli. Everything was like $15... score!

And after I got home from our hike, I picked up some salads and chips and dips to bring to our bbq at Al and Stephs. After Logan had his ridiculously long 3 hour nap, we headed there around 4.

We spent the whole 3.5 hours we were there outside in the backyard because they have the most kid friendly backyard with a swing set, trampoline, and this sand hill with trucks.

You can see here that all 7... yes 7 children are in this picture! 5 boys and 2 girls.
And there was some serious kissing happening with these babies... they were all smiles and kissed a few times!!

And we managed to stay ou tof the rain for playtime, bbqing the beer can chicken and corn, then the rain hit about 730pm so we decided to ehad out.

Normally May 2-4 is our weekend camping with the Osbornes at their trailer, but this year we tried to get a campsite near Pellee island because we got our free Canada Parks passes we want to use but weren't able to find anything then May 2-4 was here just like that. With Sunday being the rainiest day ever, it worked out anyways!

Sunday morning was an oatmeal pancakes kind of morning. We make our own pancakes by blending oats to make oat flour so theyre healthy but still taste delish.. and Logan loves them!

We decided to live the long weekend life and pair them with caesars. Caesars are delicious. Pancakes with fruit are delicious. Not so great together. I recommend caesars as a breakfast beverage for eggs only.

Sunday was our home day where we knocked out a workout in the garage, did groceries and laundry. So we could fully enjoy our holiday Monday!

Victoria Day Monday, we headed out bright and early (well 830... as early as we could!) and headed to Bayfield for the day. Our first stop when we got there for to the Renegades diner for some breakfast! Logan had the blueberry pancakes, I had an omelette and Aleksy had the standard egg and ham breakfast. Then Logan ate all his ham. But there was minimal food thrown on the floor, so it was a successful dine-out experience.
After breakfast, we headed to the park and although there was tons of playground equipment, Logan had the best time running away from the playground and all around the park.

This was a chilly morning... maybe 10 degrees. He will definitely want to spend more time at the park in the summer when the splash pad is on and its warm.
All happiness when playing at the park! He loves to watch the other kids play and do the things big kids do.

I think anytime we take a selfie, he assumes we are opening snapchat and putting the doggy face on because his tongue comes out immediately!

Bayfield family selfie.
After Logan played at the park, we walked down to the water. It was such a cold day, when we got close to the water we could see Logan's little lips chivering, so after he had a tantrum over us trying to give him multiple blankets, put the stroller wind shield on, his hood on, or anything that would make him remotely warmer, we ended up heading back up into town away from the cold breeze of the water.
This is the little walkway that takes you to the marina. Of course we had to walk down by the boats to show Logan!

And when we walked around after avoiding the water, treats were had by all. Some ciders for us, and smarties and cookies for Logan. We had a close call when the OPP drove by, but perhaps the little stroller family on a jaunt didnt look suspicious so we didn't get caught in our crazy cider drinking adventure.
This guys was starting to get tired after about an hour of walking around so we made a couple stops before heading abck to London town to the Flamingo bakery for a sprinkle cookie for Logan, a toffee biscotti for me, and a pink flamingo (pink lemonade) square for Aleksy. Bakeries are the best.

And our last stop was for coffee at the shopbike coffee shop. Aleksy got a cappuccino and I got a matcha latte at this cool fair trade, hippy feeling shop. I decided that the matcha tastes like the matte that we know and love from our Chilean adventures!
And this little goober slept the whole way home from 1-2pm! We was all worn out from the mornings events!

Entertaining him on long rides is the hardest (there's only so many snacks he can eat!) so it was nice to have a peaceful ride home.

Weekending

This past weekend was Mother's Day weekend, along with a whole lot of other stuff on the go: Steph's 30th, run for Ovarian Cancer and Maiko's 5th birthday. We are pretty good at packing lots of fun things in a weekend.

Friday, we had Aleksy's parents lined up for babysitting and a night planned to go out for supper for Steph's 30th! We went out to Bourbon St Grill for supper and had some crab cakes, which were awesome and I had a salad with scallops which was not so awesome. The scallops were vinegary. And in efforts of trying to be healthy I skipped dessert and had another glass of wine instead.

We got Steph her bottle here - her favourite: H2O. Such good gift givers.

And because we wanted to keep the party going, we moved the party over to Palasad for one more drink before calling it a night. We were home late to relieve the babysitters - just after midnight but it was such a fun night!
Saturday morning blueberry oat pancakes. This guy lives for these... with extra blueberry jam on top. He usually eats 3-4 pancakes like a machine.
And I don't feel too heavy after these pancakes since there's no flour - just oats. I even ran 6 km right after eating them!
And Saturday afternoon we left to ehad to Kitchener to Love, Laugh, Play indoor playground for Logan's friend Maiko's birthday. After a pretty decent car ride considering goober was awake the whole time, we got there right at 6pm when it started and Logan got right into the playing. He loved it.

We also participated a bit in the playing and we also loved it. And the kids watched in confusion as we did so. If this activity didn't draw so much attention to the small children, it was fun enough that I would have swung a while longer...
Logan's happy place - One of his favourite things are "trucks" and all tractors are also "trucks" so this was very exciting to play in.
The party was complete with pizza and Logan's favourite: fruit. He's basically a fruitarian. He may have had a couple bites of pizza.

I love his little smile for Daddy in this picture!
Tabi made this crazy elaborate cake and the map underneath it... and that's a boat beside the castle. And in case the cake wasn't enough, there are also cake pops underneath to the right - in the shape of the bullet/bombs from mario! Such a sad thing to watch her cut (but then eating it immediately makes it all better)

Logan made it all the way to 830 and still wasn't complaining about being tired because he was having too much fun! He fell asleep on the way back from Kitchener and was easily transferred to bed afterward!

And Sunday was Mother's Day and I woke up to Logan being adorable and bringing my Mother's Day gifts to me. He had made a craft gift for me with daycare and some crafts with Aleksy too! Those are the best kind of Mother's Day gifts!

Then at 10am, we headed to Springbank for the Run for Ovarian Cancer. This was my second time running it with Amanda. We got there a little bit late and ended up starting with the walkers because the runners were already gone. We got caught up though and finished in just over half hour!
Aleksy and Logan came along and got some action shots of us running to the finish. 5k completed in about 33 minutes. It was a good temperature for the run too - not too cold and perfect for a tshirt.

After the run, we headed downtown to try a new cafe that Aleksy had found - the Ritual Cafe. It was kind of a healthful, natural type cafe. I got a blueberry smoothie, Aleksy got a cappuccino and we got Logan a treat: a banana loaf, which he proceeded to spit out and then all over me. He wasn't a fan of the walnuts in it I guess and could tell it wasn't a timbit.
But he was a huge fan of the brownies that one of the employees gave us a bag of to say Happy Mothers day - they were the ends so they were free but just as delicious!
All my goodies for Mother's Day.
And Mother's Day evening, we had my Mom and Paul and Aleksys parents all over for a Mother's Day supper!

All things Logan

Why does time run away so fast with kids? I've somehow paused my time with Logan and still picture him bout the 12 month mark, but now he's approaching the 2 mark! I even started a Pinterest board for his second bday party. And I haven't even done a post about what he's doing at the current stage for months and months! And this guy is 4 months away from 2... 20 months to some but I think his months are too high to go by that now..

We bought him a "potty" - really a toilet seat that goes on top and he is obsessed! He's sitting on it here. He asks to go "pot" - and points to the toilet. We then pull his diaper down, and he sits on his the toilet on hius potty for probably a total of 5 seconds then he's "all done" and can't wait to flush, wash his hands and use the hand towel - I think that's the real reason he wants to use the potty.
We aren't officially in toilet training mode, just getting him used to the diea that he has a toilet seat and will go potty eventually!

One of Logan's favourite things to do is grab his boots and put it by the gate, door or wall and hold on while he puts them on... and get really mad and frustrated when he cant get them on.

Clothes or not.. he loves playing in his boots! And I love this picture because it fully shows his personality - he loves to make faces and do silly things like put a toy in his mouth to make you laugh. At daycare, he also makes all the kids laugh with his sillyness.

He loves to pull up his shirt showing his belly button saying "whew!" then immediately point to everyone in the room to lift their shirts and show their belly buttons! And he sure knows where his belly button is and is pretty much an expert of his body parts and says them all clearly: eyes, mouth (will point to food and say"mouth" when he wants us to eat... usually the food he doesn't want to eat), cheeks, ears, toes, hair.
We also discovered this week that he sings the first few letters of the ABC's!
He loves to make excited hand shaking gestures to make us laugh (that's what he's doing here), and also make a cute tilty smiley face and say "cheese!". And he will make the cute smile face upon request too.

He loves when we count and will count along "2, 2, 2, 2". Actually 2 is the best and there's no real purpose for other numbers.

If he catches you heading toward the bathroom, he will follow you and yell "poo!" and we have to reassure him that sometimes we just go pee. He also tells us when he has pooed by saying "poo" and usually grabbing his diaper.

He has SO many words which really started just a few months ago but now he has tons:chair, shirt, pants, light, sock, rock, truck, car, boat, cat, Kate, ball, peas, oats, book and so many more... these are the ones he says and knows by himself and he will repeat bigger words and compound words. Small sentences are still a stretch but he loves when we point to our eyes, chest and him saying "I... love.. you!" and repeats us.
Somewhere along the way, our big eater that ate tons of various veggies, fruits, meals and everything we gave him became mr. I only eat a few foods. The veggies he eats are peas, corn, and avocado. We offer him lots more but he always doesn't touch them. He loves most berries and likes grapes, bananas, and raisin toast, waffles, blueberry jam, our homemade oat pancakes and as you can see here oatmeal! This is goober devouring Aleksys breakfast... a full man sized breakfast!
Breakfast isnt too bad... he likes breakfast food, but lunch and supper are hard. This kid doesnt even like toast.

He eats pasta with only butter and parm, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, and perogies. And lunch meat and cheese and eggs.
There may be a couple others but this is pretty much the extent of it... so particular!

And Mr. Logan's favourite toys are the ride in little tykes car that had the door that opens to get in, his kitchen and play food, mega blocks and then he loves balls and bubbles and is almost always sitting at his little miniature table and chairs and moving the chairs all around. But most of all, outside is his favourite! And "park" he knows when we drive by it now and says "park!".

I need to make sure to document more milestones so I remember what our baby is doing when!

A May Kincardine Weekend

This weekend was a Kincardine one! Its always a good time in Kincardine with our friends Sam and Zac and their adorable kiddos, and it's extra awesome when it's nice outside but how is it we get the rainy cold weather!

For the month of May, Aleksy and I are trying to go the whole month without eating sugars, unhealthy carbs, extra carbs (just the basics... mostly root veg) and overall nothing unhealthy. So to avoid being tempted to snack on the usual chips, candy, chocolate that we have, I prepared these platters to cover the snacking! Along with hummus and trail mix, I was fully satisfied! And since Logan pretty much only eats fruit, he was too.

It was the best drive there (and home) with Logan sleeping the entire ride. So lucky! We always plan long car rides around the nap.
Each and every time we go to Kincardine, Logan is so happy the entire weekend. He loves being around Scarlett, all the toys, having a huge house to run around and this time there was a keyboard to play on and a new friend... who Logan continuously pointed at saying "baby". But this dress... he did not like. This was the best picture I got before he demanded it come off!

We had some bbq chicken, asparagus and sweet potatoes for supper and stayed up like crazy party parents until 12:30am. Obviously the struggle of tired eyes started well before that.
And of course the next morning, we were up bright and early at 6:45am. Logan heard the smallest peep of baby Billy cry and he was all about getting up. Good thing there's percolated coffee to look forward to in the mornings there! These kiddos played in the basement for much of the next morning and we had to get this picture before we left... its our white chair traditional picture which we can see how huge our kids are getting each time we visit! 8 month old Billy looks almost as big as Logan here!

Cant wait for summertime Kincardine walks and adventures to the beach!

April was the best!

The last 2 weekends of April were such a good mix of adventures and good quality family time. This was a good month overall... Vegas, Easter, and the last 2 weekends too.

To finish off my week off work right, on Friday April 21st, we had date night... but not your typical dinner and a movie date night. My friend, Heather acts in plays and we went to go watch her perform in Appin (which is about half hour driving from our place out past Strathroy). It was so much better than we prepared ourselves for.

First, we got there and noticed that even though we were early, the tables were pretty full. And this was because everyone there was over 70! Except our table of course... all Heather's friends and family. So we got spots at our table before our roast beef supper. It was sooo good - passed along on platters to everyone on the table like it was family and as much as you want to take: roast beef, corn, mashed potaoes, coleslaw and chocolate pie for dessert.

And the play was so good! I was told by others that this was not always the case with the Appin plays, but we were so impressed, captivated and laughed at the jokes (and when the actors occasionally missed a line).

$40 per person for all this plus supported my friend! And Logan had an at home night with his Grandma so he could fall asleep in his bed.
The next day was Colton's 4th birthday celebration. We got there a bit late because Logan was napping still (He naps long only when we have to leave) and when we got there crafts were in full motion so Logan joined in.
We were also keeping an eye on Cadence because her parents were on a cruise but she still wnated to party.
After Colton's birthday party, we went over to Steph and Jon's for supper and drinks and Sunday was family day, which we ended up spontaneously crashing our neighbours supper and had a mish mash of everything that they had out for supper and we had out for supper! Logan loved playing with their 4 year old twin girls too.

And this weekend was date morning. We watched our friends 3 kids a few weeks back and Saturdsy moring was our turn. We dropped Logan off with Steph and his friends Chase and Raeleigh and headed downtown for a quick 5k run, to pick up my race package for the Forest City Road races and then to the early bird for breakfast. Their food is awesome. Aleksy had a turducken sandwich that was massive and I had some hashbrown with veg and eggs. Last time I did the fat elvis (french toast with peanut butter, fried bananas, maple syrup and bacon) and have to say it was a lot more delicious and the hash n eggs. I was trying to make a healthier choice but this deep fried saltyness was definitely far from that!
When I was picking up my race bib and shirt from Victoria park, the event was sponsored by New Balance and they had tons of merchandise for sale. And it was ridiculously discounted! Got some new kicks for under $80 taxes in!!

Logan played with these and the box more than any of his toys this weekend.
My first 10k. I run all the time, so I can't say I didn't train for it, but previous to the 10k, I only ran that distance once before (since Ive had Logan) and that was the weekend before. I did it in 57 minutes when I ran hyde park to Gainsborough and back to Wonderland.
All the while, Logan was having an awesome time playing in the backyard, painting, having snacks and making bread with his friend!

And Sunday the 30th, I ran my 10k at 10am. And finished it in 53 minutes! I forgot my hair tie and was probably the only female to not have their hair tied back, but that didn't seem to affect the run... Aleksy and Logan came downtown too with me and had a starbucks date while I ran.

Because I knew that I ran the 10k in 57 minutes the weekend before, Aleksy had planned to get to the finish line around that time and missed me because I killed it with time!

There is a chip timer that was attached to my bib and you can see my time from crossing the line was exactly 53 minutes. And I was surprised that I ran really well compared to the whole group of runners... 128 out of 590 runners and 42 out of 343 female runners. Not too bad for my first run!

Right after my 10k, I headed to the nail salon for my sister date... my birthday present (since I was away earlier in the month!). We first got our toes done at Skin and Nails and then went down to Palasad for a drink after.
Bright toe pedicures!
