Florida 2018: Days 1 & 2

We continued along with our 5 year Florida tradition this year: we went in 2008, 2013 and again this year! This year we went from April 21-28th and it was the three of us and my sister Jon and Rachel... just a small group with a big house. I was so excited to take Logan on this vacation with excitement for a 2 year old everywhere from a pool in the backyard to disney!

We left from our place around 10am Saturday and that began the day where every travel hiccup that could happen decided to happen. Starting with: the line up for the border that extended well onto the bridge! Luckily, it was pretty quick moving so the delay was only about 20 minutes and during that time I got an email saying the flight was delayed by an hour. Then as we arrived here to our washroom stop (and for some swedish berries and combos), I got another email saying it was delayed another hour! Then another saying only an hour and a half then after those emails, I got an email saying sorry from Spirit airline and that we each get a $50 credit!

That was a lot of emails.
After some pretty heavy traffic in Detroit and realizing even with the delay, we couldn't squeeze in a lunch at the Cracker Barrel, we made it to the airport! At first Logan said he didn't want to go on the bus from the paring lot, but cousin Rachel always helps for motivation.
Taking our bags to get checked, Logan wore his backpack the entire time and didn't want to take it off (but never played with the toys inside when at the airport or on the airplane).
We arrived through customs with just enough time for some lunch at the Coney Island. Logan chose pancakes (surprise!) while I had a crappy greek wrap and Aleksy had a bunch of hotdogs. Not so gourmet but we were starving! Logan even ate one of these gigantic pancakes and a half.
Logan loved looking out the window at all the airplanes coming and going and all the "tractors" around the planes.
Logan had a great flight to Florida - despite having just a 30-45 min car nap before we hit the border around noon. He was happy to watch the plane take off and then we were prepared with his "little puter" and some preloaded episodes of Peppa and Paw Patrol. And gummy candies for a little extra happiness.

We landed in Florida around 7 and then after grabbing our luggage, we found that there was the biggest line in the entire world for Alamo which is the car rental place that we had prebooked with through spirit. After trying to figure out how to use the do it yourself kiosk, we made a bit better time than the massive line but then when we got to the garage, there were no SUVs! Both us and Steph and Jon chose an SUV so we had to wait until they pulled 2 in, and then we had to wait again in the massive line of traffic to get out. I think we got out around 9! Although Logan was getting sleepy, we decided to still stop into Wal Mart to pic up "a few things". That became a $175 bill somehow but we got lots of breakfast foods, pizza, and snacks! We finally arrived back to the house at 10:30pm (Logan passed out on Aleksy at Wal Mart). Rachel and Jon were already swimming when we got back!
And Sunday morning, waking up at the Florida house! Logan and Rachel having their breakfast and thinking about jumping in the pool!
This was a quick morning dip (and Logan's first swim) before we headed out for some Golden Corral buffet (which we decided on after IHOP had a crazy line). The Golden Corral was an awesome buffet with everything imaginable and an awesome dessert table to boot!
After the amazing buffet, we hit Wal Mart another time (because somehow our first $175 bill didn't cover everything!) for the forgotten items like some new toys for Logan for the beach and pool, a body pillow (best $10 spent that week!), and some dish detergent, paper towels and laundry soap that we noticed didn't come with the place.

Then it was a pool day the rest of the day! And Logan was loving all his new pool/beach toys.
Casually showing my child how the water gun works. Always responsible parenting.
Family pool side day! This is the spot that Logan and I hung out at most because the pool seemed really cold and Logan really preferred soaking everyone with water shooters and my pregnant belly was uncomfortable when I tensed up because of the coldness of the pool.
One of Logan's favourite parts of the Florida trip... getting everyone with his water wand! The bigger the reaction, the better for Logan.
Family pool pic! Going in the donut floatie this way was way more comfortable than the other for my belly! We brought lots of these floaties from home but there were lots for really cheap at Wal Mart too!
This was our house! It was located in a really nice resort, Lake Berkley that was gated by a guard. The whole resort and community resort area was really nice and the house was good but we found there were definitely things that made it feel like a rental house- hardly any toilet paper in there, updates minimal etc. But it had everything we needed and a ton of space!
Later on the Sunday, we had made plans to have a bbq in the community bbq area/lake but then we got rained out and decided to make the sausages back home. And when we were leaving we saw this amazing rainbow! Its actually a double rainbow if you look closely and was because of the crazy rain then sunny weather!
These 2 at the end of the day before bed loving their electronics! Logan decided this trip to make the big switch from Peppa to Paw Patrol and refused to watch anything but the 6 pre loaded episodes of Paw Patrol (over and over... he didn't seem to mind!).
