Florida 2018: The last few days

Day 6: Thursday was our beach day! We had big plans to leave the house early at 8:30 so we could make good time and then somehow Logan slept until 8am (I think this is a record for his whole life). Since Logan determined the hour in which the household woke up, we left a bit later than planned.

Breakfast first! Always loving eating it outside whenever possible!
Then we were all ready to go before 10am and Logan wanted to try out the rental car while Jon searched for his lost phone (and had no success finding it until we got home).

We made a pit stop at Dunkin Donuts before we left for our hour and a half journey to Cocoa beach!
It was pretty smooth sailing getting to Cocoa beach until we hit construction only 10 minutes down the street from the beach! But parking was easy to find, only $10 for the day and (clean!) public washrooms right close by.

And look how pretty this place is!
Our family picture plus Jon and Rachel in the back!
The beach was huge and amazing. Not too busy and they had chair and umbrella rentals. They were a bit pricey at $10 a chair but so worth it since laying on the sand comfortably was not happening for me. And our house came with an umbrella that we brought along.
We arrived at a good time so we were still able to get some swimming in before the flag turned red and the undertow became noticeably stronger.

The waves were a ton of fun and Logan loved being splashed.
Rachel and Logan also grabbed their buckets and collected some sea shells. There were tons right along the shore. Don't tell Rachel but we took one from her bucket as a keepsake! It actually goes with Logan's sailboat theme room.

Rachels first time swimming in the ocean was this day!
This was a perfect beach for surfing and the same people that had rented us the chairs, rented Jon and Aleksy a surfboard so they could try it out.

Neither of them had surfed before and neither of them made it fully up on the board. This picture is the closest I think Aleksy came. But they can say they tried it and it was entertaining for the rest of us to watch. The movies make it look so easy.

We brought Logans beach toys with us and he made this "sand castle". As it was this whole trip, despite it being well past his nap time, he had far more fun things to do than sleep and played in the sand and swam happily.
Trying out a little surfing like
Daddy.

After discovering that our phones were waterproof, the photo opportunities were endless. We could bring the phone right into the ocean and get awesome shots of Logan being splashed with waves:

We decided to pack it up around 3:00pm and grab some lunch. We were all so starving!  We ate at a beach side restaurant and Logan was so hungry, he even ate a bite of the coconut shrimp! It felt like GTs on the beach in Port Stanley but better. And they had virgin pina colodas!
Logan passed out at supper and slept the whole way back home (except the last 15 minutes).
It was a good thing that we did leave the beach when we did because the sun was super hot and Rachel and Jon got pretty bad sun burns. Aleksy and Steph got some too and I reapplied too many times because my skin is super sensitive to the sun when Im pregnant so luckily Logan and I didn't burn. Logan got a slight burn on the magic Kingdom day (which oddly went away in a day) so we reapplied tons of sunscreen at the beach!

Day 7: Friday was our last real day in Florida and was our chill by the pool/in the house day.
I looked up some recommended restaurants nearby and found this biscuit house: Holler & Dash that I wanted to try. We went that morning for breakfast and it was the best service I think we've ever had. There was an awesome employee going around, talking/joking with everyone and giving free fruit to Logan and when Rachel wanted more tater tots, gave them for free!

The food was awesome according to everyone else, and Aleksy ordered 2 meals (this is a picture of his breakfasts because my kale biscuit was not as satisfying). They also had carbonated coffee which was cool, but I also didn't like and they didn't charge me when I went for a sweet tea afterward!
Logan loving his plain biscuit with jam (what I should have ordered!)
And arriving home = pool time! I mixed my virgin pina coloda in the blender and it was amazing! Jon was all about the umbrella and sitting in the cool pool because of his sunburn (it was seriously a doozy of a sunburn).
And back to Logan's favourite thing: spraying everyone in the pool!

Rachel joined in too.

That night we had to use up all the food we had left over so we had bacon wrapped chicken for supper and salad with hard boiled eggs (because we didn't end up eating the bacon and eggs!). We called it an early night around 9:30 because we had to get up at 4:30am for our 7:50am flight. We managed to finish off the 8 or so mini pies that we had all bought from Walmart!
Day 8: Saturday was just a travel day. We were up at 4:30am packing things up and getting ready to leave for the airport. We left the house just after 5am and it was really smooth dropping off the car rentals, getting through customs and we made such good time with it all that there was only 15 min or so until boarding. They were so on that ball too and boarding was like 45 minutes before take off!

Logan had his pre-loaded shows on the tablets that were supposed to be our saviour for the plane and then the paw patrol episodes all expired by this time! So he spend the plane ride constantly asking for Paw Patrol and we tried to convince him Peppa was awesome too because Paw Patrol was broken. It was a bit of a cranky flight but we pulled through. He did cry for the 20 min landing but luckily we were at the front of the plane to leave!

With all the travels, we still managed to get home around 2pm and Logan slept all the way until the border and then once in Sarnia we got some wifi from the Tim Hortons and loaded his Paw Patrol for a happy ride home (we had to wait to get back to Canada because the american netflix didnt have it). And we grabbed some Moet from the Duty free for after baby girl is born to celebrate baby and being able to drink again.
